Turn Environmental
Action Into
Collective Impact.
SPOGOMI transforms waste collection into an engaging team-based sport, bringing together companies, communities, students, and government institutions to deliver visible, participatory, and measurable environmental impact.
"Fighting trash through the power of sport." — Let's clean more diligently.
Indonesia's Waste Challenge Needs Visible Action.
Every year, the pressure on landfills and marine ecosystems increases. Awareness is good, but hands-on operational participation is what creates lasting corporate and social value now.
Indonesia generates approximately 6.8 million tons of waste annually, with only around 10% recycled. The remainder continues to burden municipal landfills and pollute rivers and pristine marine ecosystems, making circular waste management one of our most pressing environmental challenges today.
In the 1970s, Japan faced similar acute waste issues due to exponential economic growth. Through strong long-term collaboration between corporations, government institutions, and active local communities, initiatives such as the 3R (Reuse, Reduce, & Recycle) movement successfully shifted public awareness and behavior, showing that collective athleticism can drive deep systemic change.
Environmental responsibility is no longer optional. Modern organizations are increasingly expected to move beyond passive financial CSR donations and take visible, participatory, and measurable action. Real events engage employees, create genuine social buzz, and establish long-term trust for corporate ESG reporting.
Why Partner Now?
In 2026, sustainability is no longer measured by abstract promises, but by active physical footprinting.
Direct alignment with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and compliance audits. Partners secure verifiable, independent weight records for sorted recyclables.
Improves corporate teamwork and workplace morale through active sportsmanship. Employees physically join hands-on work alongside peers from other Japanese and local Indonesian companies.
Spreads your brand value into public awareness on Car Free Days, through national press releases, and via collaborations with official media partners (CNN, iSWARA, MRA Media).
As the visual representations of page 4 suggest, modern companies are moving from abstract climate pledges to physical stewardship records. By investing in a structured SPOGOMI package, your firm receives tangible photo documentation, press release quotes, and certificate data to validate your green steps.
What Is SPOGOMI?
SPOGOMI is a modern, brilliant fusion of “Sport” and “Gomi” (the Japanese word for trash). Established in Japan in 2008 by Mamitsuka Kenichi, it has rapidly grown into a high-visibility global athletic movement across more than 30 countries.
At its core, it's a strategic, team-based tournament. Different types of waste carry different point counts based on recycling complexity, requiring not just sheer physical speed but strategic timing, collaboration, and intense ecological awareness

SPOGOMI doesn't just clean; it educates. The project is an official platform structured to deliver measurable progress directly targeting climate action, preservation of ocean life, sustainable urban communities, and strong partnerships.
From a Pilot In Jakarta to
An Annual Strategic Tradition.
First introduced in Indonesia in 2021 through a joint collaboration between Marubeni and AEON Delight Indonesia, spelling out a visionary framework to address municipal trash issues.
Backed by prestigious institutional endorsements including the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, the Embassy of Japan,
key Japanese-Indonesian business alliances, and expert operations spearheaded by waste partner Rekosistem.
Following our inaugural successful tournament at Ragunan Zoo, the movement expanded geographical parameters to Bali in 2022 and has since returned annually as a cornerstone corporate sustainability gathering.
Impact You Can See.
We maintain absolute historical fidelity. Below is our complete track record of tournaments held in Indonesia, along with their exact audited participant tallies and waste collection statistics.
Ragunan Zoo, Jakarta
Our first SPOGOMI event in Indonesia. Conducted during the post-COVID-19 transition period, the event was organized with strict health and safety protocols in place, including mandatory mask usage, ensuring a safe and responsible environment for all participants.
Universitas Katolik Parahyangan, Bandung
For our second event, we partnered with Parahyangan University, an institution with a strong and long-standing commitment to ESG initiatives. The event also served as a meaningful commemoration of the 65th Anniversary of Japan-Indonesia Friendship and the 50th Anniversary of Japan-ASEAN Friendship.
Seminyak Beach, Bali
This beach-cleaning SPOGOMI event brought together not only Japanese companies, but also students, fostering environmental awareness and a shared sense of responsibility. The initiative was particularly relevant in Bali, where the growing number of tourists continues to contribute to increasing daily waste generation.
Jakarta Mori Tower
As the first WELL-certified building in Southeast Asia, Jakarta Mori Tower demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental sustainability by hosting the SPOGOMI event. Held during Car Free Day, the event attracted the attention of passersby and the surrounding community in the Sudirman area, amplifying public engagement and awareness.
Jakarta Mori Tower
In addition to employees from partner companies, SPOGOMI Jakarta 2025 was enlivened by active participation from local community waste bank groups in the Bendungan Hilir area, as well as students from elementary, junior high, and vocational schools. It welcomed enthusiastic involvement from university students of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), University of Indonesia (UI), and Asia Youth Leader members.
SPOGOMI Indonesia 2026 Roadmap
Our 2026 circuit establishes national exposure across three strategic centers, balancing administrative corporate engagement, community academic roots, and expanding regional industrial alliances.
Bandung
Recognized as one of the oldest and most respected private universities in Bandung, Parahyangan University has consistently been involved in environmental initiatives. Hosting SPOGOMI in 2023 and 2025, the university continues to strengthen its commitment to raising environmental awareness and fostering responsible practices among students and local communities.
Jakarta
As the capital city of Indonesia and the busiest, Jakarta produces the most waste in the nation. It faces landfill overcapacity problems and littering. Lack of waste segregation leads to river pollution, waterway clogging, and flooding. SPOGOMI spreads awareness and nurtures the habit of waste segregation here to create a more sustainable Jakarta.
Jakarta triggers high corporate visibility & ESG media campaigns.
Mojokerto
The selection of Jakarta, Bandung & Mojokerto reflects a strategic balance between visibility, continuity, and expansion. Jakarta provides national exposure and corporate engagement, Bandung strengthens community-based participation, and Mojokerto provides a strong platform to engage corporate industries and communities in collective action promoting responsible waste practices.
National Corporate & Community Engagement Balance
The selection of Jakarta, Bandung, and Mojokerto reflects a strategic balance. Jakarta provides marquee corporate participation, Bandung seals educational community relationships, and Mojokerto taps industrial groups with intense landfill reduction needs.
